I'm looking at buying a 1977 m880 dodge pickup from a site called alfaheaven.com and I need help. I know that it is a full time 4x4 truck, and I was wondering if they sell conversion kits for these trucks to make them part time 4x4's. Please respond with the pros and cons of converting it. Will doing this improve the fuel economy and how fast the truck cruises? It states that it does 70mph comfortably, and I want to know if it will go faster if I convert it.

I put Mile Marker part time kit in my first 77 Powerwagon back in 1988. There was no difference in gas mileage. Lost two rear shaft bearings over the two years I had kit installed. Ran it locked up once a week to keep tail housing lubed per Mile Markers recommendation. Got rid of part time kit when I put 440 in truck back in 1990.
