Post subject:  '78 TrailDuster 440" in AZ, nice!!
From Craigs list:......$3495.00... This is a nice original unrestored 1978 Plymouth Trailduster with the factory 440 V8 and automatic transmission. Also has AC and Cruise. Everything is original except the wheels and tires. Wheels have rust. otherwise there is no rust or evidence of body work anywhere on the vehicle. It has a couple of minor dings-- one on the drivers door and one behind the right rear wheel. They're not very noticeable. There are some dings on some of the trim pieces. All trim pieces are included, though some are not on the vehicle. rear bumper has some minor damage but I think it can be fixed. Seats are in excellent original condition and the rear seats are included. For more info or more detailed pictures you can call 928-636-2978. Price has been reduced and will continue to be reduced until this vehicle is sold. The NADA price guide low retail value is $2675 and AVERAGE retail is $5175...... I just talked to her and offered $2500.00 for it, it's going to cost me a $1000 just to get if here. She said she's to going to wait and see if she can get some takers at the price she has it at now. So we'll see if I get a call....

According to Author/Photographer "Monty Montgomery" in a Book called " Dodge Pickups" Edited by Don Bunn, there were "74" 440 engine, 1978 1/2 ton pickups built. He goes on to say that there were "more Pickups built in '78 than any other year"...........
My speculation would be there were more '78 RamChargers built than '78TrailDusters. I would say RC & TD also had banner sales too like the pickups.
I have seen quite a few of the 440 RamChargers from '74-'78. Not many in '78.
My simple factory build ratio is about one Plymouth TrailDuster to three Ramchargers built in the first edition RC & TD SUV. The RamChargers and TrailDusters were all built on the same production line at different factory sites over the first edition run ('74-'78). Just model insignias and trim were changed on the production line when assembling.

....How rare is a '78 Ply TD 440"?.... The Chrysler Archives burnt up in a fire for those exact year records. So my answer has to be speculative...... Very Rare!

I wish she would take my $2500 I offered. It only went up to $1900 on ebay when it was on there.
