So at least 841 through 857 -- so at least 17 in the batch. What's the guesstimate of how many were typically in each batch?

It really wouldn't be too hard to try and figure out all the other VINs...especially if someone had a Carfax (or similar product) to see where and when others were last registered...

The six ending digits of my truck-118602. The DOM is 12-80. The MDH is 120512xx. Kind of throws a wrench in the batch production theory! Unless of course this vehicle is a pre-production unit? Or maybe it was built as a public relations vehicle-used in the making of the 81 brochure? I sure would like someones guess also. Any Ideas? AND-We should start referring to it as the MINNESOTA truck. HA_HA. Bob S.

WAIT ONE MINUTE! I just remembered reading an article about the assignment of VINS. The assignment of a vin to a build request order only showed that a vehicle was allowed to be built. Meaning that only certain items meant for that vehicle could be ordered. You could not just put an item code such as pink paint on an order for a Macho. This means that an order for ANY truck, be it a plain Jane six cylander or an 81 Macho could follow one another. As for the sequential vins they may have come from the Sales Bank or a single dealer ordering two 81 Machos. This is only my guesstimate. HORACE-Please chime in on this since you have the most knowledge of how a dealership was operated. OR ANYONE! I'm thinking that the only way to figure this out is to look at the MDH. If they mostly all have the same MDH they were batch built. If not, they came down the line and the appropriate parts were installed to make the vehicle what it is. My head hurts. Bob.

Or they could have been ordered when the window opened up for ordering. Bob I wonder if your truck may have been for public relations... whats the TON on your truck.....

TON is FS9 49 201 I think the first letter is an F? could be an E. But lets go w/F.
