That just might be the truck I've been looking for. It's close enough... about 4 to 5 hours away. I'm calling him tomorrow.

Looks like a 1977 to me, with the clear parking light lenses. Looks like a great starting point, can't beat the price.... parts are worth much more than that.

OUCH!! Yep. I just talked with him and he sold it. I was all ready to go pick it up. He said the truck didn't have a title so at least my disappointment was dampened slightly. I asked him what year it was. He maintains it is a 79. Of course I didn't argue with him. I think it's a 77 too. :(

That's too bad. Seems like its hard to buy vehicles that are far away. On one hand you don't want to rush into anything, on the other the good deals don't last long.

I think I saw an add recently where he was trying to sell the other truck and mentioned the 79 as a parts truck. After seeing the most recent pictures of it, with hood and other parts already robbed, and the fact that the transmission was shot, I felt it was more than I was able to tackle. If the truck had still appeared as it did in the first picture he posted on Craigslist, (and there were no transmission problems) I'd have bought it in a heartbeat at twice the price. I even put a brand new heavy duty trailer hitch on the '91 and had planned the trip with a borrowed trailer. Just hoping if I hold out, that right truck at the right price will finally be had.
