I remember seeing a Lil Red every morning waiting for the school bus in the early 80's. At the time, I thought Lil Red Express was a delivery company, and that'd be a cool company to work for. It's easy to imagine such things when you're 8 years old. Still, what an impression that left.

The first time I saw one, I thought it was just an individual's customisation. Mind you... that was back in my GM days before I saw the light... ;)

LAST440, are those the original type wheels?

Hi, sorry for slow response.
YES
15x8 Chrome slots made by Western Wheel for Mother.
Tended to rust going down the assembly line.
Plastic centers broke during the first tire rotation.

78s had 15x7s up front. Much harder wheel to find.
Both sizes were also used on other trucks /vans.
Lot of 15x8s went on 4X4s.

A few years ago I was at one of my local junkyards and I saw a '79 LRT in a fenced off portion of the yard,I glanced at it from a distance and didn't think too much of it. it was missing the stacks, and had white wagon spokes on it,but otherwise looked complete, just weathered looking.

Fast forward about a month or two later,I was back at that yard again for one reason or another, and i notice it's gone. I asked a guy that worked there and he says "Yeah,we just sold it for $800". My jaw dropped.

Supposedly it ran and drove too.
