Hello Everyone! I am a new member here in Puyallup, Washington. I have lurked for a long time and it is now time to join. When I was 5 or 6 my Dad bought a Silver '77. We lived in Central Oregon and I can't remember where he bought it, I wil have to ask him. I remember the 1st time I got to drive it. We were in the John Day area hunting and we were going to his favorite spot. My mom always went along and read her book, and I usually played in the dirt with my Hot Wheels! As we were going, he noticed a herd of deer on the hill side and didn't want to stop and scare them away, so he told me to slide over and take the wheel as he slowed down and got out. I can still remember that grin on my face as I "drove" it down that dirt road! ![]() Man I loved that truck! It is funny the things that you can remember as a kid. I can still to this day remember us taking the roll bar out so that we could put a canopy on for the hunting trips. I remember very clearly to this day my Dad giving that roll bar to my cousin for his truck. I do have a question in the middle of my story, in looking at pictures, most of the trucks had the roll bars painted to match the body. I know my Dads was a silver truck with a black roll bar. I called and confirmed that with him yesterday. Was it only the silvers that had this? My dad still to this day regrets geting rid of that truck! I could here the excitement in his voice as we talked about that truck yesterday. He knows that I have been looking for a Macho. I hope to soon find a Silver to restore with him and then at the end of it hand him the keys! Thanks for sharing all of your knowledge, car guys are a special breed, but they are nothing like the Power Wagon Family! Scott |

Hey Scott, glad you joined. I have a Silver macho that my dad bought brand new from the factory. The roll bar is silver. I remember the one and only time I got to drive the power wagon. It was a little less glorified but a day that was etched in my head forever. My dad picked me up in the wagon when I was like 14 from soccer practice slightly to intoxicated to drive. I remember him looking at me and saying, " u think u can drive this thing" I was like sure. Made it home like a champ my dad yelling at me the whole time about letting the clutch all the way out. I'm doing a ground up restoe on it now. There are some pics of it up under my name check em out may bring some memories back. Chris |

Roll bars came in body color and in balck. It just depended on how you ordered it or how the dealership did. I've seen pictures of machos with black rollbars that were red and yellow trucks. So yes, they came with multipled colored trucks. |
