Post subject:  Longbed Macho Database

So for the 9 years (and actively the past 4), I had been searching everywhere for an original longbed Macho rollbar to go in my daily driven 1989 W250. During these years of searching though, I had managed to find a few on Facebook, but it was either they wouldn’t separate them or a logistical nightmare for shipping. But I stuck to it, and kept record of everyone that came up for sale. Finally in April of this year, Scott in Indiana bought a rusted out 1977 in bright orange and we made a deal on the rollbar. I had to wait 3 long months until Carlisle to pick it up, but it looked amazing ratchet strapped in the bed of the truck. And so many people came up and talked to me about it, and some were even longbed Macho owners themselves! Plan will be to get one of the kickers patched up and everything powdercoated this spring, and possible hook up some more KC lights.

With the searching though, I decided to create a list of all the longbeds I have encountered across Facebook. If you happen to know of any of them, or happen to have one yourself, please let me know. Unfortunately I kept horrible tracking of them, so they’re mainly focused on color and location, with some having names to them.

Do you have pictures of the roll bar? I recently purchased a 79 Macho clone. I would like to verify if the roll bar is a factory model or an after market model.

Yes I have a few I’ll have to get. Do you happen to have photos of your truck’s Rollbar? Might be able to determine it. I have two photos of what the seller sent me. Unfortunately I have my rollbar in storage for now, as it needs restoration.

I won't be home for a week to get pictures. I can see from your pictures that mine is different, it's not a one piece item as yours seems to be and it has the mounting plate for the lights on the rearward side and not the forward side so I expect it's not an original. I'll try to put up pics when I get home. Thanks for your reply, it's greatly appreciated.

Not a problem! I’m happy to help, and if needed, I have the dimensions to get one built if you need that too.

Long beds are rare for sure.
Of the dozen plus Machos that I've owned,
only one was a LB.

Strippy 4 spd sm block.
May have been Canyon Red metallic 78?
Can't remember.
