Newbie here to the older mopar community (not to what some would consider weird old vintage cars & race cars, I own many, just not any mopar) so please forgive the questions if they are obvious ones :)

I just acquired from a friend a 1979 Power Wagon, which from the photos he sent me appeared to be a Short wheel base “Macho” in Orange on Black color. Doing him a favor, (and me in finding a cool truck I always wanted as a kid) I purchased the truck sight unseen (I knew it was a little rough but I’ve restored way worse ie http://Nascarimpala.com). It just arrived tonight and seems to be a bit of a conundrum:

1) An obvious one now after seeing the truck in person; the very faded what I thought was original but isn’t; orange is painted over a burgundy looking red. A PY3450 “Medium Canyon Red” according to the data plate on the radiator cowling.

2) Its a W1, or W100 which according to the guide on this site to finding a Macho shouldn’t be; “... A MACHO POWER WAGON will be a W150 from 1977 to 1981.”

3) It has the PX9 procedure code, however seems other trucks did as well? “procedure code for 77-79 is PX9. Many trucks also may have had this code...”

4) but, but it has to be a macho? it has two color codes, PY3540 and PZ4001... must be macho no?

So in summary trying to understand if this is indeed a macho, despite being a W100. I am intending to do a full restoration regardless but need to know what to restore as :)

Thanks so much for the help!

Cool looking MACHO

Looks like a very early color change.

Either would be great, I think I'm partial to the Maroon Metallic.

Looks like a good solid start. There is a set of macho bucket seats on flea bay that you may want. They have been recovered with cloth but they are getting pretty hard to find

I also just acquired a 1979 Macho - and coincidentally enough it too was made at the Fargo Chrysler plant and has the same original paint scheme/color codes. I am in Virginia and the truck got shipped from North Dakota. I am getting the title and tags done tomorrow. Mine has some after market items that will be removed/replaced to get it as close as possible to original, but it runs great. I do not know much about old Dodge trucks, but have done a few old Fords and am beyond excited to get on with this one.

Actually that picture angle distorts the dimensions a bit - it is a long bed - from the other side you can see both fuel caps. I WANTED a short box, but as with most things.....

Cool Macho we have a 4-speed as well, getting it road ready and hopefully restore it one day.
