What motors can bolt-up to the transmission in 78 power wagon. Its a 4 speed has a 360 right now. I want to do a 440 swap if it will work.

A 440 will work fine, though you're going to need to change the bell, and I'm not entirelly sure about linkage. As far as I know, all steel crank 440s were properly drilled for a pilot bushing, but after the switch to cast cranks, it's hit or miss. Having a non drilled crank drilled is really no big deal, as long as you're willing to disassemble the whole engine. If you don't know how to identify a cast from steel crank engine, look at the vibration damper. If it's roughly an inch wide, you have an internally balanced steel crank engine. If it's about two inches, it's an externally balanced cast iron crank. The 69-71 six pack engines were also externally balanced, but used the steel crank. Chances are, you won't be finding one of these, and if you do, sell it to an A12 freak, then use the cash to finance your project.
