Just picked up a 1977 Macho Power Wagon with A/C cruise, auto chrome rims and 360 built Nov. 1976. It looks like 1976 Spitfire orange. I will be restoring it and was wondering if they all came with paint code PY9999. It is orange with black and yellow. Also when did they first start rolling off the assembly line.

I don't believe orange was a 77 color, I may have the listing some where but I think 77 offered yellow, red, russet metallic<reddish brown>, white? silver? seems like there were 6 colors no blue, black & maybe no greens

After lots of checking out colors on paint charts and at the paint shop the color of my 77 Macho matches up to Spitfire orange . I also had the opportunity to talk to an old Chrysler employee who worked in the design department, and he said they often used paint code PY9999 on preproduction units or special paint orders. This unit was built November 22 1976. It would sure be nice to know when the first 77 Macho came off the line. last 7 of Serial # S071536. It also has the flat top roll bar as seen on some of the early promotion photos. Sure wish I knew how to post photos.

Chevy mirrors? Slot wheels? Only a mid-mounted fuel tank (no cab tank)? Non-sliding window? Cargo light?

I really don't know pre-79 trucks all that well so they're purely guesses. :?

The sport mirrors were replaced with chev mirrors at some time in its life, it came with all 5 chrome spoke rims, all have a penstar on the back side, did have rubber fender extensions, has the vacuum gauge volt meter and clock, a/c and cruise, and has cargo light. home made rear bumper that weighed 200 lbs and 2 angle iron brackets mounted to the front frame rails that appear to be factory, have seen these on plow prep trucks. also has factory trans oil cooler
