Hey all my name is Chris I live in Vegas and am new to your forum. I found 1 other forum, which is the powerwagon forum before I found this pacific forum. I have a 1978 silver and black Dodge Powerwagon that my dad bought new in 1978. I have all the original paperwork and documents on it. My dad passed away feb of last year and It kills me that I didn't get a chance to rebuild it so he could see it or drive it again. I don't think I have the original 318 tht came with it but I have two in the back of the truck along with a 360. I also have access to a 440. I put that up on the powerwagon forum and most said to stay with a 318. I have the 360 already hot tanked but that 440 sounds lke it would be too much fun. I am very open to suggestions. I am mechanically inclined and what I don't know I'll read or ask forum people for help. Right now I'd love some help on how to post picyures so I can get some input on some body damage. All my pictures are on my "My Pictures" file on my computer. I tried to post one but it said it was too big. I have adobe photo and a sony program and a walgreens program for pics. can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks for having me on the forum, Chris |

Chris... you should be able to open it with paint and skew the size down that way as well. I look forward to looking at pics of your truck....Is the truck in vegas too? Sam |

Silver and Black! Sounds like your Dad bought a very cool truck. Small block is much easier to live with, and probably does everything that needs doin. |

OK I think I got it apparently you can only do 3 at a time. The drivers side was t boned by another dodge truck. The door I should probably replace as well as the fender. The cab I'll probably take to the body shop, But what do I do about the bed?

These are old pictures around 2000 when I picked up the truck the passenger side is fine but here is close ups of the drivers side.

Check out the rear left tire that's a 33 off my jeep. The Jeep faired ok pulling but I destroyed the rear end getting the Power wagon on and off the trailer which was entirely to small. The pictures with the Jeep were about a week ago. I have a lot of work ahead of me. I intend on doing a frame off restoration. I know I can get the fenders after market and maybe the door off ebay, but the bed I'm not sure of. The day my dad bought this truck we went wheeling. We lived on 36th street in San Bernardino CA and the bottom of Lake Arrowhead moutains starts at 40th st. I remeber going out there and seeing other trucks wheeling, they asked my dad why he was wheeling this brand new truck. He just replied thats why he bought it. It definetly has seen some abuse. I just can't wait to get it running and looking good again. I've been trying to get my girlfriend and Mom to get me on overhauling, because the truck really has some amazing family memories (I had a sister too who passed away 10 years ago when she was 28. She and I spent many times holding on for dear life while my dad was wheeling, but none of them even know about the show. Any way. I'm going to start full bore into the truck, after I get a tattoo memorial for my dad. I kinda feel he needs to be there with me on this rebuild. I'll post pictures and ask questions as I go about this rebuild. Thanks in advance for any help. Chris

Great pics, looks like you got a good truck to start with. Mines got some floor panel rust and a few dints as well, which are next on the list. Happy rebuilding! |

Great Truck Chris. The best investment for a project is usually a parts vehicle. If you could find a straight, rust free shortbed as a donor truck, you could "harvest" some vital parts. I've picked up several for 200-500$ just to get perfect beds, which are hard to come by. If you can score a no moulding shorty with a perfect bed then all the other parts are free. Try checking out Vegas Craigslist. Or whatever you consider within range. Even if you find one with moulding, a little work can make it the same as a Macho, filling a few holes and grinding off the trim bumps. Awesome Truck!! Great to have the original Roll Bar. Any vintage shots from when it was new? |

Neat truck, and it's make's it even cooler that your dad bought it brand new. My brother had a silver and black macho and that's what got me into them. |
