From what that pamphlet says the 81' Macho was also available in a stepside as well? That would be a different looking beast. 8-)

Well, after years of searching for the elusive

last Macho, one has finally turned up. Over the years,

I heard of a couple, but never pictures or anything

solid. A rusty one in Illinois. One in a wrecking yard in Florida.

And maybe even a long bed in the midwest. And then Dynotune

spotted this one on an obscure sale site in Missouri listed as

81 ramcharger. He made a very good analysis of some fuzzy

photos and we both said. MAYBE............

A couple of calls and several more photos, revealed that it had

roll bar holes in the right spots, Original Cashmere Paint, under a

complete coat of black. And the clincher was a little spot of orange

tape still in the drivers side door edge. The interior is black with

cashmere trim and a cool black sport steering wheel.

The truck is solid but has typical body rust. It is a 318

4speed. It has the build sheet and the core support tag.

It's had a pretty rough life, including farm work and some

mudding. It is now living the Dry life in Nevada.

Interestingly the build sheet shows it coded for the

aluminum turbines that are on it, rather than orange spokes.

couple more.

Should look like the one in the brochure when done.

Except for the wheels, and the mirrors.

For now, it runs and drives

Barely.

So I can finally check 81 Macho off my "to Find" list.

Now I just need to put it on my "to do" list.

2 sheets

about 2/3s of one sheet is in tact.

Both on the pass floor pan under the

carpet. The 2nd sheet was face up and

fused to the jute pad. It was toast.
