Post subject:  Fender Emblem questions

Hi, I have a 1978 Macho Power wagon, but it is missing both of the front fender emblems. I've found lots of pre 78 emblems and 79 emblems but are they the same as a 78 emblem? Apparently the 78 emblem is different in some way. The emblem in question says Power Wagon 150. So my question is, will other years of emblems work without drilling new holes in the fender? Or does someone have a source for a couple of 1978 emblems? Also, i've seen some pics of "Macho power wagons" with custom or adventurer emblems, are these trucks clones that have been made to look like a Macho or did Machos originally come with different fender emblems? Seems like a genuine one should say Power Wagon 150. What do you guys think? Thanks.

I have a 1977 Macho and it has Custom 150 fender emblems on the fenders and also one on the lower dash area, and they are original.

Thanks for the info, it has me wondering now, since my truck is missing its fender emblems, how can I tell what is original for it? It is a 78 Macho, I was just assuming the missing emblems were Power Wagon 150, but now I'm wondering if the originals were custom or adventurer emblems instead. There is just a couple of holes and remnants of adhesive on the fender, it looks like it was rectangular like the power wagon 150 emblem, but I can't really tell for sure what was there. Any thoughts on what was used in 78? Thanks

Pictures??
We would love to see your truck! :)
The correct application could be determined
by Build date and Plant.
Are the tags, and or labels intact?

Well, it has something to do with what was going on in the plant the week it was built. The 77's take the hood nameplate "power wagon" and also have "custom" nameplates on the fenders. For 78, the consensus use to be that they were just a "power wagon 150" decal on the fender and NO hood nameplate, but I have seen them both ways, meaning that there have been some that have been just like the 77's, and wearing the hood nameplate and having the fender nameplate as well. I think that the thing to determine is does or did your hood ever have nameplates on it, or screw holes where they would have gone? Also, if you have the OE fenders, did they have holes for a nameplate(this is also up for debate, some have had holes covered up by the decal).
In years past I was always under the understanding that the fender decals came out in october of 77 for the 78 model year, and from that point on that is what they used, but there have been exceptions, LAST440 has a "D" code 78 macho built in jan of 78, and is setup like a 77....I had a 78 Adventurer SE that was built in April of 78, and used the 77 style nameplates too....soooo unless you know what was there before, it could be a potential coin toss, but look for signs of either before you decide the direction you end up going.

I sure could use a 1977 Custom 150 emblem (passenger side). It's the only one I'm missing. :? Any ideas on sources?
