Tore up my right front wheel bearing something royal. Wrecked the casting that appears to hold the bearing seal that bolts to the spindle. Pretty sure I wrecked the spindle, and outer stub shaft. Wrecked the hub. Trying to think what else I wrecked..... Anyways, short of finding another 1/2 ton truck which around here doesn't happen. I've got a donor 3/4 ton front axle from a W200 to steal from. Both are Dana 44's. What will swap out? What won't. |

some stuff will, and some stuff wont. the stub shaft should work, the knuckle I believe is different, and of corse the rotor is different. The bearings and bearing retainer are the same though...I just went thru the bearing replacement and brakes on one of my trucks.... |

so I'm screwed on the knuckle... wonder how much work that's gonna be to find. sigh... hub is horrifically expensive. |

Or you can do like I did, get front and rear difs from a 85 Ramcharger. Lock out hubs, don't have to deal with the pressed bearings any more. You will need to get a wheel with the bigger bolt pattern though. |

So going to he new style. How does that work. Leave the hubs unlocked and it would spin everyhing but the tire. Supposedly saving gas. Leave em locked all the time it would act just like it always did. Buddy of mine found me a front full time dif out of a 79 for 50 bucks. If it screws up agaian maybe I'll go that route. Rear end slobbers oil everywhere. So it wouldn't be bad to ditch it |

I think you'll have to keep those hubs locked in if you have the fulltime case if it's in Hi, otherwise you'll have to run HI LOC if you have the hubs unlocked, eitherway, your front driveshaft is gonna spin.. -jim |
