Ive got a 84' W350 & the automatic transmission is getting pretty bad, Id like to swap it out for a 4 or 5 speed that'll fit right in (so, something of that make & vintage Im guessing) Ive got a guy that will do it but I need to locate a complete set up for him. Would the 5 speed be noticeably nicer for modern traffic or is the 4 speed still workable these days? Ive got a 44' Willys Jeep & that stock setup will get you killed on modern streets, I know the difference between 84' and now isn't as great as from 44' to 84' but thought Id get some opinions here. Also, are there any new manual transmission manufacturers that have anything that they offer to do this (with all needed components?) Kinda out of my comfort zone on this one as far as knowing what to look for or who to even contact. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance...
